i didnt make it to church this morning but did watch a great Francis Chan sermon. the title ‘You Have Everything You Need’ intrigued me and of course Francis delivered. it was exactly what i needed to hear. its great to be reminded to refocus and shed all unnecessary worries, stress, fears and doubts. heres one of the highlights:

‘One of the great uses of Twitter and Facebook will be to prove at the Last Day that prayerlessness was not from lack of time.’ John Piper

In the Old Testament it was not ‘you shall KNOW the right things about God’ its ‘You shall LOVE the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind – otherwise its just a religion to you…and that is not Gods desire.

Other verses that have been BIG wake up calls to me recently:

‘Without FAITH it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.’ Hebrews 11:6
‘He touched their eyes and said, ‘According to your FAITH will it be done to you’.’ Matthew 9:29

‘You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe- and shudder!’ James 2:19

*to be honest these verses FREAKED me out- big time. my faith can be shaky at times even though i continue to live my life and do ‘works’ we are called to by God. but God wants more- He wants all of my heart- i have some work to do.

Belief is not enough. Works are not enough. FAITH. its all about FAITH.

you know those days when things actually seem possible and crystal clear? thats today for me and im happy. walking through my day and sorting my mind to accomplish and figure out whats before me. wiping the slate clean and starting anew is one of the best feelings possible. thank you Lord for today and this present peace and faith.

i first saw Priscilla Ahn about 4 years ago at Hotel Cafe when she sang back up for Joshua Radin. in the following shows her presence would increase…first by opening with a song or two and then eventually a full length opening set. i had no idea who she was but the first time i heard her voice i was struck. she is so simple, calm and understated yet incredibly powerful. her voice resonates so strongly with me- i regularly get choked up- not even understanding my emotions or thoughts. feelings ive pushed down are beckoned instantly and im overwhelmed with a thousand thoughts, memories, emotions…..etc…

this is one of my favorite songs. hopeful, sad, nostalgic, feminine. all the sensitive things that set me off and i love it. please enjoy

its so much FUN when you run into something that is a reflection-interpretation-manifestation of your feelings-emotions-style-taste. an indescribable attraction/affinity for a tangible representation of the INNER YOU. whether its a pillow, photograph, necklace, font, book, drink, song, color, painting….it provides a great feeling of being understood or identified.
today while browsing The Sartorialist i came across this fabulous gal and her ensemble owned me at the very first glance! im definitely gonna rock my own version of this look when the occasion presents itself.

thank you again to creative people who step outside the box in order to express themselves- inspiration is invaluable.

Books- these past few weeks ive been getting book recommendations left and right- they all have peaked my interest and address something im currently working my way through…i just wish i could magically read all of them at once. the total is up to 9 and i still have a few more to purchase…

How To Get a Date Worth Keeping- one of the most recent recommendations… im scared/nervous/embarrassed/etc to even admit im reading this book but i did mention in a previous blog that my picture header had purpose and well… this is a bit of the follow through. simply reading the Table of Contents gave me minor heart palpitations. im sure blogs/stories will follow

Did I write that? recently i had to sift through my email and blog to search out specific bits of information. in doing so i got caught up re-reading sections… do you ever not recognize your own words? i know its common when reading vintage stuff but i was reading emails from 2 months ago and was really annoyed at my writing. i can only imagine what other people are thinking….edit, edit, edit! i went through many years where i stuffed my emotions, thoughts, stories — and then through a chain of events and people i started to open up, explain and share….weeeeelllll i think sometimes i go too far — and become a bit too concerned with being honest and authentic. so im editing now…

Indian Food- obsessed! as of 3 weeks ago….cant get enough.

Ladies Small Group- 2-ish years ago my ladies small group fell apart mid-study and ive been searching ever since… i found one and last monday was our first meeting! im really excited- great ladies, strong & demanding material, mostly single ladies- but in my age range which is hard to find- i normally get thrown in with college aged gals which is a totally different set of issues. im starting to feel as though parts of my life are clicking and it feels so amazing i could honestly cry- Praise God!

London Calling- i applied to an international television job in London. im sure nothing will come of it– but in this journey of searching for a job/career/purpose it was a fun little highlight. (side note: i almost applied to a job in Americus, Georgia but made the mistake of running it past my dad beforehand- lets just say he didnt take so well to the idea. he found a kind way to call me out on my craziness)

Latest Guilty Pleasure- Leighton Meester songs- her version of Bette Davis’ eyes got my attention awhile ago- and then her collaboration with Cobra Starship was just pure fun- and now her latest song with Robin Thicke is being made into a video directed by Zoe Cassavetes. and well….lets refer back to the picture header of my blog- its from Broken English- the writing & directorial debut of Miss Zoe it has no option but to be amazing!

my sweet sweet friend sent me an email today with a bible verse. she found the verse at work written on a piece of paper folded up under the keyboard of a community computer. totally discovered by chance and totally amazing. thank you Lord for random acts of faith and love. im so thankful my friend passed on this bit o’ joy and that the verse really did hit home for me… this makes me think of how i can step up my game and infuse this life….sometimes hard life…with love, joy and encouragement.

Ephesians 3:17-19
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, ¹⁸may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, ¹⁹and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

i love fashion. but im not obsessed or really even impressed with labels. i love fashion as a form of expression- a glimpse into peoples emotional state and of course their taste. the thought process or lack of thought process provides so much information without even saying a word. i love thinking about what type of life they lead, their vocation, where they are from, taste in home decor, personality– all of these things can be represented simply by what one chooses to buy and wear on any particular day.
there are a million fashion blogs and i love spending hours sifting through the latest trends and the newest look to stomp down the runway. but in the last few years there is a new type of person giving fashion inspiration via the internet- the average individual walking down the street. i follow a few of these types of blogs- but my favorite is The Sartorialist . below are a few of my favorite looks from everyday people. those who make fashion and the expression of ones self an important specific part of their day.
be inspired
and maybe even ask yourself what you are communicating to the world when not even speaking… and how you might feel if you were to express yourself a bit more specifically.
